The secluded and private Belan Peninsula is an ideal base for bird watching both for individuals or groups. The Fort's 'Bird Pack', compiled with the help of the Wild fowl and Wetlands Trust at Slimbridge and the British Trust for Ornithology, lists over 200 species spotted on the Belan Peninsula and Foryd Bay in recent years. The pack also includes maps and details of all the coastal Nature Reserves in North Wales.
Belan has its own bird hide on the dune-lands over looking the bay.
