
Fort Belan is situated on the North West Wales coast, nine miles from Caernarfon by road. The fort is on the tip of a peninsula to the west of Caernarfon overlooking the Menai Strait and the Isle of Anglesey

By Rail
The nearest station is in Bangor. We can arrange transport from here to the fort.
By Road
From the M56 and the Chester area
A55. After the Bangor turning take the A487 to Caernarfon and then follow the directions below.
A5. This is the historic road which follows a scenic route through Shrewsbury, Llangollen and Betws-y-Coed. On reaching the A55 turn left, then follow the directions below. Alternatively, leave the A5 by turning left at Capel Curig onto the A4086 which takes a right turn over Pen-y-Pass past Llanberis and towards Caernarfon. Pick up the A487 and follow the directions below.
From South Wales
A470 Dolgellau to Porthmadog. A487 towards Caernarfon. Before reaching Caernarfon turn left onto the A499 and follow the directions below.
By Air
Helicopters can land at the fort
Private planes can fly in to the airport at the southern end of the peninsula just two miles away from Belan.
Directions from Caernarfon to the Fort
Take the A487. Stay on this road going straight on through three small roundabouts.
At the fourth and larger roundabout the road divides. Keep straight ahead onto the A499 Pwllheli road leaving the A487 which turns off to the left to Porthmadog. After running beside a long high stone wall on the left, follow the sign to the right for Caernarfon Air World.
Reaching the seaside village of Dinas Dinlle follow the road which runs parallel to the coast until coming to a sharp right hand bend with chevrons. At this point turn left and immediately right to a gate marked ‘Belan Fort’ and ‘private'. Carry on for nearly two miles. On reaching the fort bear to the right and park in either the inside or outside car park.
